The Simferopol airport, which was raided by a group of armed men early on Friday morning, is operating as usual at the moment, an airport spokesman told Interfax-Ukraine.
These armed persons, dressed in camouflage, remain on the premises of the airport, which is located in Ukraine's Autonomous Republic of Crimea, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent has reported.
Some reports suggest that these people came to the airport because they thought that an airplane carrying some protest forces had landed there. Other theories indicate that they wanted to stop Ukraine's new Interior Minister Arsen Avakov and Ukrainian Security Council head Valentyn Nalyvaichenko from arriving in Crimea.
