Nomination of presidential candidates in Ukraine to begin on February 25, says CEC head
Nomination of candidates for the president of Ukraine starts on Tuesday, February 25, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Mykhailo Okhendovsky has said.
"The election process begins on Tuesday, February 25, and the nomination of candidates begins on that day. The schedule of the preparations for the elections will be posted on the Web site of the Central Election Commission at the end of the day today," Okhendovsky said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.
Commenting on the statement of some politicians about the need to change the current composition of the commission for the early presidential election, the CEC head said: "I'm confident that the results of the election, which will be prepared and conducted by this composition of the commission, will be accepted on the entire territory of Ukraine – from Lviv to Donetsk, from Sumy to Sevastopol, which is of paramount importance in the current political situation."
