Start of presidential election campaign will be declared on Monday - parliament speaker
The Ukrainian Central Election Commission will declare the beginning of the early presidential elections campaign on Monday, Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Oleksandr Turchynov said.
"The Central Election Commission will declare the start of the election campaign and publish the schedule of the election campaign on its website today in accordance with a decision made by the parliament," he told a meeting of the conciliatory council.
The schedule is very tight, Turchynov said.
"The thing is that we can begin nominating presidential candidates tomorrow," he said.
Turchynov also said that "the Central Elections Commission needs at least UAH 1.9 billion for the organization of the elections," adding that "urgent changes need to be made to the state budget to finance the Central Election Commission."
