Authorities, opposition leaders agree on truce, presidential press service reports
The results of a meeting between Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and leaders of the opposition factions in parliament Arseniy Yatseniuk of Batkivschyna party faction, Vitali Klitschko of the UDAR party and Oleh Tiahnybok of the Svoboda party include the announcement of a truce and the beginning of talks to stop bloodshed and stabilize the situation in the country for the sake of civil peace, the presidential press service reported on Wednesday evening.
The meeting was also attended by Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Rybak, Presidential Administration head Andriy Kliuyev, his first deputy Andriy Portnov, and acting Justice Minister Olena Lukash. The latter three are members of an ad hoc group to settle the political crisis. The group is led by Kliuyev.
