Yanukovych replaces chief of general staff, commander-in-chief of Ukrainian army

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has dismissed Volodymyr Zamana from the post of the chief of general staff - commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and appointed Yuriy Ilyin in his place.

Prior to this, the president dismissed Ilyin from the post of the commander of the Naval Forces of Ukraine.

The relevant decrees were signed and published on the president's Web site on February 19.
