Stabbed Kherson policeman dies in hospital - police

A policeman, wounded by radically-minded protestors in Kherson on Monday, has died in the hospital, the regional police department said.

Earlier reports said that radical-minded protestors stabbed three officers of the regional criminal police.

The assailants, all of them local university students, have been tracked down.

"They are active and radical-minded participants in the protest rallies," the police said.

Two policemen were hospitalized in critical condition and were moved to intensive care. The third was given outpatient medical aid.

The attack is being probed on counts of attempted premeditated murder which carries prison confinement of 15 years to life.
