The French Foreign Ministry on Wednesday expressed concern about the latest events in Ukraine and fatalities in Kyiv.
"France expresses its grave concern about the clashes that have continued in the Ukrainian capital in the last few days," a French Foreign Ministry spokesman said at a briefing on Wednesday.
He said that Paris condemns the escalation of violence that led to the deaths of protesters and called for an immediate end to unrest.
French President Francois Hollande also expressed deep concern about the situation in Ukraine, spokeswoman Najat Vallaud-Belkacem said.
The president urged the Ukrainian authorities to comply with the obligations in the field of observing democratic norms.
