Andrey Kisilyov, a journalist of the Lenta.ru internet-based newspaper, has been detained in Kyiv.
"My colleague, Lenta.ru's journalist and cameraman Andrey Kisilyov was detained on Hrushevskoho [Street in Kyiv]. He is in a prison van now," Ilya Azar, another journalist of Lenta.ru, wrote on Twitter.
Kisilyov, who was covering mass riots in Kyiv, was detained at 0700 on January 23, a statement posted on Lenta.ru reads.
"Kisilyov called from a prison van and told his colleagues about his detention. According to [Alexander] Rastorguyev [the founder of the Lenta.doc project], the journalist was beaten. There is no information on his whereabouts," the statement reads.
