Ukrainian govt supporters thank police for efforts to maintain order in Kyiv
Several dozen supporters of the Ukrainian authorities, primarily women, approached a police cordon on Hrushevskoho Street in Kyiv to thank police for their efforts to maintain law and order in Kyiv on Wednesday afternoon, the Ukrainian television Channel 5 reported.
In particular, the women wished to thank the Berkut special police task force for their efforts to make sure that people can safely walk along Kyiv streets, it said.
In the meantime, participants in an opposition protest on Independence Square have armed themselves with baseball bats, sticks, and metal rods while waiting for a possible clash with security forces, it said.
