UDAR Party leader Vitali Klitschko has left Hrushevskoho Street in Kyiv, where he talked with the priests and the leadership of Interior Ministry units, for the presidential administration on Bankova Street, where he plans to meet with President Viktor Yanukovych, reads a statement posted on the party's Web site on Tuesday.
Earlier Klitschko communicated with the commanders of Berkut special forces and Interior Troops officers and urged them not to take any actions against the protesters to avoid bloodshed.
"Protect the people, not the authorities. And I promise you that those who do not carry out criminal orders against their people will not be prosecuted," he said, addressing law enforcement officers.
The priests told Klitschko that they were standing on Hrushevskoho Street to prevent bloodshed and that they intend to "continue standing and pray for Ukraine," reads the statement.
