Russian TV station reporter injured during Kyiv standoff

Russian REN TV television station correspondent, Stanislav Grigoryev, has been injured in a stun grenade explosion during clashes in Kyiv, the television channel said in a press release seen by Interfax on Tuesday.

"Mass riots made an abrupt come-back in Kyiv last night. The Novosti 24 program's correspondent Stanislav Grigoryev was seriously injured in the center of the standoff. A stun grenade exploded under the feet of the REN TV reporter while he was filming his footage," it said.

Grigoryev was rushed to the hospital with a suspected open tibia fracture, the Russian TV station said.

According to Grigoryev's own words, cited by the press release, "we were standing between the lines of Ukrainian special operations units and protesters preparing to film our footage. We had the first take, then the second one, after which an explosion occurred. I think that if it had been a real grenade instead of a stun grenade, my leg would have been torn off."

The REN TV press service has said that Grigoryev is the 30th journalist injured during the ongoing clashes in Kyiv.
