MP Anatoliy Hrytsenko, the leader of the Civil Position Party and former defense minister, has written a statement about his leaving the Batkivschyna faction in Ukraine's parliament.
"Due to [my] inability to influence the decisions that are taken by the Batkivschyna faction, I announce that I am leaving the faction," he wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday.
The lawmaker also said that he registered his statement in the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday morning, after the Batkivschyna faction decided on Monday to hold a meeting without him.
According to the official Web site of the Verkhovna Rada, as of midday on Tuesday, the number of members of the Batkivschyna faction is 90, Hrytsenko is still listed among them.
According to parliamentary procedure, the exit of an MP from a faction has to be announced by the speaker.
