Yanukovych promises decisive fight against corruption

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has promised to create a hotline next year so that citizens and businesses can report cases of corruption at government agencies.

"We need to declare a decisive war on corruption. We will hold a meeting on this issue immediately after the New Year," he said at a meeting of the Council of Regions in Kyiv on Thursday.

He said that the issue concerns, first and foremost, cases of corruption among employees of law enforcement and regulatory agencies.

"I won't envy those who fall, as they say, under these scissors," Yanukovych said.
