Ukrainian World Congress calls on authorities to investigate attacks on Chornovol and Pylypets
The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) has said it is shocked by the startling attacks on journalist Tetiana Chornovol and co-organizer of the peaceful Euromaidan rally in Kharkiv Dmytro Pylypets.
The organization believes that these incidents are aimed at scaring or punishing journalists and activists of anti-government rallies in Ukraine, according to a statement released by the organization.
"In conjunction with these troubling events the UWC calls upon Ukraine's governing authorities to immediately conduct a transparent investigation and punish those who carried out and ordered these violent attacks. The UWC also calls upon governments worldwide to condemn these events in Ukraine that are so inconsistent with democratic principles," UWC President Eugene Czolij said.
