Association with EU compatible with Ukraine's observer status in Customs Union - Yanukovych
Ukraine may combine its status as a signatory to an association agreement with the European Union with observer status in the Customs Union and the Eurasian Economic Union, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said.
"Yes, sure. This does not go against any international documents today. Ukraine should find a model of interrelations with its strategic partners that would be suitable to all," Yanukovych said in an interview with Ukrainian media on Thursday when asked whether Ukraine may in the future sign an association agreement with the European Union and at the same time hold observer status in the Eurasian Economic Union and the Customs Union.
