Two crew members of tanker, including Ukrainian, kidnapped off west coast of Africa
Armed people attacked an oil tanker owned by Medtankers company off the coast of Nigeria, and kidnapped the ship's captain – a citizen of Ukraine, and the first engineer – a citizen of Greece, the Associated Press reported on Tuesday, citing the Trade Ministry of Greece.
According to the ministry, a group of ten armed men boarded the tanker.
The pirates took the personal belongings of its crew members but did not touch the tanker's cargo.
The vessel was flying the flag of the Marshall Islands. All of its 18 crew, except the Greek first engineer, are Ukrainian nationals, AP reported.
