Prosecutor general support legal settling of issue of indentifying Berkut riot police
Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Pshonka said that it is wrong that it is impossible to indentify Berkut riot police officers who take part in law-enforcers raids.
"This is wrong, to our opinion. We'll make conclusions and will demand that numbers corresponded to last names of officer who were involved in raids," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Saturday.
He said that it is difficult to establish the names of Berkut riot police officers who participated in dispersing Euromaidan protesters, as they were all helmeted and did not have identifications on their clothes.
"We’ve studied the rules of the Berkut operations. Unfortunately, there is no concrete identification for each Berkut officer or on their clothes, or helmets… We'll discuss the issue in line with Ukrainian law," Pshonka said.
He said that the issue of identifying Berkut riot police officers who are involved in raids should be legally regulated.
