Criminal proceedings opened into blocking of Kyiv streets - Ukrainian Interior Ministry
The Ukrainian Interior Ministry has opened criminal proceedings into the blocking of Kyiv transportation routes by demonstrators, the ministry reported on Wednesday morning.
Police have been receiving numerous complaints, mostly from residents of the central part of Kyiv, saying they cannot approach their homes by car and cannot rest normally at night, it said.
"The Interior Ministry notes that nobody prevents people from assembling peacefully at Independence Square. However, the law enforcement agencies point out at the same time that there is a court ruling that guarantees free movement of people and automobiles and traffic safety," it said.
