Activists pitching army tents at Independence Square in Kyiv
Demonstrators have started to pitch army tents on Independence Square in central Kyiv.
Up to 10 such tents have been erected right near the stage, and about as many are being installed along Khreschatyk Street, near the Ukrainian Trade Unions Federation headquarters, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.
Some protesters have made a campfire near the tents. It is unclear so far whether the activists are going to spend the night in the tents.
The situation at Independence Square, where several thousand people have gathered, is calm.
Ukrainian performers are entertaining the demonstrators at the moment, and opposition leaders are expected to replace them soon.
Interfax-Ukraine has learned that Batkivschyna parliamentary faction leader Arseniy Yatseniuk, Svoboda Party leader Oleh Tiahnybok, and UDAR Party leader Vitaliy Klitschko are meeting with foreign ambassadors to Kyiv now.
