Consul general in Istanbul was recalled due to end of diplomatic mission – foreign ministry
Ukraine's Foreign Ministry recalled Ukraine's Consul General in Istanbul Bohdan Yaremenko because his diplomatic mission had finished, the ministry says.
"[Yaremenko] was recalled from a long posting abroad because his term was complete," deputy director of the information policy department of the Ukraine's Foreign Ministry Vasyl Zvarych said at a briefing.
He said that usually a long-term posting for a diplomat is four years, while Yaremenko has been abroad for five years.
"But it doesn't mean that he'll be dismissed," Zvarych added.
As reported, Ukraine's Consul General in Istanbul Bohdan Yaremenko was recalled to Kyiv after he sharply criticized on his page in Facebook the actions of the Berkut special police service while dispersing EuroMaidan protesters.
Earlier Kozhara accused Yaremenko of breaking his civil service oath and demanded that he return to Ukraine by December 7.
