Agreement on common aviation area removes restrictions for airlines of Ukraine and EU from March 31, 2015

The agreement on a common aviation space foresees that all airlines of the European Union from the summer navigation of 2015 [March 31] will be able to operate direct flights to Ukraine from anywhere in the EU, and Ukrainian companies - to the EU, according to a press release of the European Commission.

According to the report, restrictions on weekly flights between the EU and Ukraine will be also removed. It is expected that competition will facilitate the establishment of market prices for all flights.

The European Commission said that similar agreements were signed with the Western Balkan countries, Morocco, Georgia, Jordan, Moldova, and Israel.

The signing of the agreement will improve links between Ukraine and the EU and create advantageous conditions for the aviation industry and consumers.

As reported, the agreement between Ukraine and the EU on a common aviation space was initialed in Vilnius on November 28.

Vice Premier of Ukraine Oleksandr Vilkul previously forecast that the signing of the agreement would attract new air carriers to Ukraine, and boost passenger traffic.
