EU leaders to tell Yanukovych of their readiness to sign association agreement with Ukraine
During a meeting with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in Vilnius, President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso will confirm that the EU is still ready to sign the association agreement with Kyiv, European Commission's spokesperson Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen said at a briefing in Brussels on Thursday.
According to her, the agreement may be signed when the conditions put forward by the EU are met.
The meeting may take place on Thursday before a working dinner, which will open the summit. Hansen noted that this would be the first contact at such level after Kyiv put the preparations for the signing of the association agreement on hold.
The parties will discuss and sum up the situation, as well as the future of the Ukraine-EU relations, the representative of the European Commission said.
