Failure to sign Association Agreement in Vilnius will be missed chance for Ukraine, EU, says Fule
EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule has said that a failure to sign the Association Agreement with Ukraine at a summit in Vilnius will be "a missed chance" both for Kyiv and Brussels.
"I think what is the most important is that it is a missed chance for Ukraine, and it is a missed chance for the people of the European Union," the European politician said in an interview with Euronews.
Nevertheless, Fule disagreed with the statement that the latest developments in Ukraine demonstrate a failure of the European diplomacy.
"It's premature to talk about the failure, we still have a couple of days before the Vilnius summit, so let's see what's going to happen in Vilnius," he said.
At the same time, the channel said that the European commissioner told them privately that there was almost no chance of Ukraine making another U-turn by the end of the summit on Friday.
