EU wants to hear Yanukovych's vision of current situation at Vilnius summit
The European Union wants to hear from Ukraine's President Viktor Yanukovych his vision of the current situation and its further development at the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius.
"I think that heads of states and governments of the EU will want to hear firsthand how he sees the situation," a senior European diplomat told Interfax-Ukraine in Brussels on Tuesday.
"We know the facts, we have heard statements made by him, but there will be questions for him - what does it mean 'to take a pause,' for how long, what should we do, what could be the conditions for Ukraine to be comfortable with the signing of this agreement?"
At the summit, the EU wants to understand what Yanukovych has in mind and how he sees the process of moving forward, the diplomat said. It is Ukraine's turn to tell the EU how it sees the situation, the source added.
