Tombinski notes massive mobilization of Ukrainians in support of association agreement with EU
Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Jan Tombinski has noted the activity of Ukrainians aimed at supporting the signing of an association agreement between Ukraine and the EU and said that the EU is committed to its obligations before the Ukrainian state.
"I noticed the massive mobilization of Ukrainian citizens in support of the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union," the ambassador said in a statement posted on the Facebook page of the EU Delegation to Ukraine on Sunday.
He expressed the belief, as did earlier EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission Catherine Ashton, that "the future for Ukraine lies in a strong relationship with the EU."
"We stand firm in our commitment to the people of Ukraine who would have been the main beneficiaries of the agreement though the enhanced freedom and prosperity the agreement would have brought about," Tombinski said.
