Rada amends law on parliamentary elections to meet European integration requirements
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed on Thursday amendments to the bill on the parliamentary election in Ukraine.
A total of 365 out of the 423 MPs registered in the session hall voted for this bill at second reading on Thursday. The faction of the Communist Party of Ukraine didn't participate in the vote.
The law on amendments to the electoral legislation submitted by lawmakers of the Party of Regions envisages the establishment of a foreign election constituency, changing the procedure of forming district election commissions, reducing the size of a deposit for the registration of candidates, putting limitations on the size of the election fund, as well as stricter requirements for the election coverage by news agencies.
The adoption of this law is one of the requirements for the signing of the association agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.
