Ukrainian parliament unlikely to pass compromise bill on treatment of convicts abroad – expert
The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, could pass the bills on the parliamentary elections and on reform of the public prosecution system at second reading, but the parliamentarians are not likely to adopt a compromise bill on treatment of convicts abroad, Director of the Penta applied political studies center Volodymyr Fesenko has said.
The expert also said that the situation in the Verkhovna Rada is a tactical fight between political forces.
"I am more optimistic about these two bills [on the parliamentary elections and on reform of the public prosecution system], then about the Tymoshenko case. I think a compromise bill on Tymoshenko is very unlikely to be passed, unfortunately. Still there are chances," he said.
The expert also said that Ukraine could sign the Association Agreement.
He added that the agreement could be signed even without finding a solution to the problem of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.
