Yanukovych calls for long-term planning of Ukrainian-Azerbaijani cooperation
The governments of Ukraine and Azerbaijan should intensify efforts to further deepen cooperation between the two countries, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.
"We need to improve our relations," he said in a statement to the media after Ukrainian-Azerbaijani talks in Kyiv on Monday.
Yanukovych added that Ukraine and Azerbaijan had currently significantly improved their trade and economic relations and said that there are a number of projects that the two countries are planning to implement.
He also stressed the need to switch to the long-term planning of cooperation between the two countries, especially in the trade and economic sphere.
"Such an approach will contribute to filling strategic partnership with maximally concrete content," he said.
Yanukovych said that he and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev have very similar views in terms of the development and dynamics of the political dialog between Ukraine and Azerbaijan.
