Kuchma: Ukraine to end up with nothing unless association agreement is signed
Ukraine should meet the terms of signing an association agreement with the European Union, former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma said.
"The authorities have no other option but this agreement. But they will first have to fulfill their commitments to the European Union," he said in an interview with Channel Ukraine.
Kuchma reiterated his support to European integration. "They really have values, from the economy to politics. But this is our long-term prospect," the ex-president stressed.
Speaking of the Customs Union, Kuchma said he had not seen positive results of its development. "In fact, we have not seen positive results. All they have is slogans and even the Minsk meeting showed the absence of concrete decisions," he noted.
Asked what may happen to Ukraine if it does not sign the association agreement with the European Union, the former president said, "I may be rude but I want to be understood correctly, especially as I am not the last person to suggest "what if". I think we will end up with nothing and some of our decisions will not be complied with."
