Party of Regions opposes early parole of Tymoshenko
The representatives of the Party of Regions in the working group for drawing up a bill on treatment of convicts abroad object to a regulation proposed by the oppositional parliamentary factions to amend the Criminal Code in order to make possible the early parole of convicts that undergo treatment abroad.
Ukrainian parliamentarian Inna Bohoslovska of the Party of Regions faction said that the working group discussed on Monday the possibility of making a break in the serving of a sentence if a convict is allowed to undergo medical treatment abroad.
On Tuesday, however, the opposition proposed to release from punishment such convicts instead of making a break in their sentence, Bohoslovska said.
"Making a break in the serving of a sentence and relief from punishment are absolutely different things," she said.
