Yanukovych says explanatory work on reforms must be done in Ukraine
President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych has said that the reforms in Ukraine should come in tandem with a huge amount of explanatory work.
"Certainly, we need to conduct a huge amount of explanatory work. It should be done with examples of how we do this, how other countries do that, and what will happen after the reforms have been conducted," he said during the meeting with culture and art figures in Kyiv on Friday.
"The issue of European integration is our homework. We must reform our country so that it matches the best standards of living that the world has. We must determine what [these standards are], and strive to achieve them," the president said.
Democratic principles that concern human rights should be based in the work in this direction, Yanukovych said.
He said the economy of the state had to develop. Since 2010, Ukraine had been implementing deep economic and social reforms, and among the most positive ones are the reform of the healthcare system: the building of perinatal centers in the regions and the reform of the first aid service, as well as the building of roads, and judicial system reform, the president said.
