Yefremov: Cox-Kwasniewski mission ignoring Party of Regions faction

The head of the Party of Regions parliamentary faction, Oleksandr Yefremov, has said that the European Parliament's observation mission of former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski and former European Parliament President Pat Cox has not met with the Party of Regions parliamentary faction, which is the biggest faction in the Verkhovna Rada.

"I'd like to stress that the Cox-Kwasniewski mission has met with the oppositional parliamentary factions more than once, while it has not met with the biggest faction, the Party of Regions," he said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Thursday.

"In order to settle some issues, they have to convince us as well," Yefremov said.

"The goal [of the mission] is the signing of the Association Agreement, including a free trade area, between Ukraine and the EU, or the settlement of the problem with the release of a convict in Ukraine. Eventually it seems that the second issue, and not the interests of the whole state and its population, is considered to be the priority one," he said.
