Ukraine wishes to open consulate in Transdniestria
Ukraine has applied to Moldova for opening a consulate in Transdniestria.
"Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara has sent a message to Moldova announcing our interest in opening a consulate in Tiraspol," Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis told a press briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.
He said Ukraine deemed its request logical as many Ukrainian citizens were residing in Transdniestria.
Ukraine started to broaden consular services to its citizens in Transdniestria on October 7, Perebyinis said.
"The services are provided on a visiting basis for now. Our consul pays the visits from Chisinau," he said.
Ukraine presides over the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) this year.
