President Yanukovych promises to sign bill on treatment of convicts abroad – Rybak
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, Volodymyr Rybak, has said that the parliament has to pass a bill on the treatment of convicts abroad, and the head of state will sign it.
"We, the members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, have to consider all four draft laws and reach agreement, so that the opposition and majority factions can pass such a law," he said during the seventh meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Ukraine and Poland in Kyiv on Monday.
Rybak also said that he had met with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych recently, and the president had asked about the work on the bills on treatment of convicts abroad.
"Give me that law, and I will sign it," Rybak quoted the president as saying.
Rybak also expressed the hope that the issue will be tackled, and one of the bills will be passed.
He also said that having heard recent reports about Ukrainian ex-premiers Pavlo Lazarenko and Yulia Tymoshenko allegedly having accounts abroad, some parliamentarians started to doubt that such a bill should be approved.
