New bill on prosecutor's office submitted to parliament, Portnov says
Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has tabled in the Verkhovna Rada a draft law on the prosecutor's office that foresees the cancellation of the functions of general supervision and pre-trial investigation, presidential advisor Andriy Portnov has said.
"The Ukrainian president has submitted a bill on prosecutor's office to the Verkhovna Rada. This is another step by the head of state aimed at reforming the justice system," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Thursday.
Portnov said that the bill envisages the deprivation of prosecutor's office of the functions of general supervision and pre-trial investigation.
