Rybak: Bill on treatment of prisoners abroad most likely to be adopted next week
Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko will not be pardoned, but will most likely get an opportunity to undergo treatment abroad, Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Rybak has said.
"There are currently three laws in the Verkhovna Rada. Two laws concern the treatment abroad of people who are serving their sentences, are seriously ill and are unable to recover in these institutions, and the possibility of sending these people abroad. We will consider such laws next week... And then we will also be able to make a decision on Tymoshenko," he said at an extended meeting of the coordination and advisory council on local government on Tuesday.
Rybak also added: "I think that looking at compromises in the majority and composition, such a law can be passed in the Verkhovna Rada."
"The third law was submitted by the Batkivschyna Party on amnestying Mrs. Tymoshenko. I don't think that the Verkhovna Rada will currently vote for such a decision," he said, adding that the parliament will most likely make such a decision on Tymoshenko's treatment.
