Azarov: Ukraine plans to sign about 70 Customs Union agreements
Ukraine is planning to accede to about 70 agreements that are in force in the Customs Union, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.
"We are planning to actively participate in the work. In particular, we are ready to consider and join nearly 70 agreements that are in effect in the Customs Union," the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers quoted him as saying at a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Mikhail Myasnikovich in Astana on Wednesday.
In addition, the parties agreed that by the time of Azarov's official visit to Belarus, which is scheduled for October 7-8, Ukraine and Belarus will create an expert group that will assess the current state of trade and economic relations and prospects for their development after the introduction of a free trade area between Ukraine and the European Union.
"The Belarusian side shows a keen interest in the processes of European integration and the new conditions of the trade regime that will be introduced after the creation of a free trade area between Ukraine and the EU," reads the statement.
