Education Ministry recommends conduct Knowledge Day on Sunday, September 1

The Education and Science Ministry of Ukraine has recommended school staff conduct a Knowledge Day for the pupils on the first of September (on Sunday), while scheduled school lessons start on the second of September (on Monday), Education and Science Ministry Dmytro Tabachnyk has reported.

"Taking into consideration that this year the first of September is a day off, the Education Ministry prepared, registered and posted the order, where we recommend and ask everybody to hold a Knowledge Day in a creative atmosphere," the minister said on Thursday at a press conference, adding that teaching staff should decide in what way to mark the holiday.

The minister also stressed that this event on Sunday, in particular on September 1, is rather important for the first-formers, over 500,000 of whom will start school this year.
