Lithuanian premier may visit Ukraine this fall, says ambassador
Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius may visit Ukraine this autumn, Lithuania's Ambassador Petras Vaitiekunas has said.
"Both parties are working on such visits, because they are needed in the context of Lithuania's chairmanship of the EU, as well as for the development of the Ukrainian-Lithuanian relations. Our bilateral cooperation agenda is extensive, and such visits will take place," the ambassador said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
When asked whether the Lithuanian prime minister will come to Ukraine after his June visit was canceled, Vaitiekunas said: "I hope so. This visit may take place in the autumn.
Butkevicius was scheduled to visit Ukraine on June 13-14 to meet with Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and take part in the ABC Ukraine and Partners conference. However, on June 13, the Lithuanian prime minister postponed his visit to Ukraine.
