Yatseniuk calls for greater publicity for meetings between opposition and president

Batkivschyna faction leader Arseniy Yatseniuk has said that further meetings between the opposition and President Viktor Yanukovych will depend on the effectiveness of these meetings.

"Viktor Yanukovych expressed his desire to hold such meetings. Everything will depend on what the outcome of these meetings is," he told reporters on Wednesday after a meeting between Yanukovych and the leaders of parliamentary factions.

"Moreover, I'm sure that such meetings should be held more publicly, and this will add transparency to the government and the opposition. Ukrainian people should see and hear who is for and who is against something," he said.

Yatseniuk did not specify whether the opposition would block the work of parliament, saying only that "everything will depend on how the Party of Regions acts further."
