Lithuania doing its best to achieve signing of EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, says Lithuanian minister
The signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union is one of the key priorities for Lithuania's chairmanship in the EU in the second half of 2013, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius has said.
"One of the most important priorities for us is, of course, the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius in late November, and it's not a secret that the EU is doing its best and Lithuania, believe me, is doing its utmost to succeed and sign the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU," the minister told a press conference in Kyiv on Friday following a meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara.
He stressed that Ukraine has to fulfill the main part of the work for this.
"A lot of work must be done," Linkevicius said, and added that he meant improvement of the legislation on elections, reform implementation in the sphere of justice, as well as "assuage doubts related to selective justice."
