UDAR demands Party of Regions apologize for events in Kyiv on May 18
The UDAR Party has demanded that the Party of Regions apology to Ukrainian journalists for the violent incident in Kyiv on May 18.
"We are demanding that the Party of Regions apologize to Ukrainian journalists and to Ukrainian society for once again splitting the country," UDAR Party MP Iryna Heraschenko said at a morning plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada on Wednesday.
She also addressed Prime Minister Mykola Azarov on behalf of the UDAR Party faction and said that the head of government's promise not to involve public sector employees in rallies had not been fulfilled.
"Please consider this an official query of our faction to the prime minister of Ukraine, who had promised not to gather public sector employees," Heraschenko said, noting that the party has evidence that employees of budget-funded institutions were brought to Kyiv from various regions of Ukraine to participate in rallies.
