U.S. position unchanged: Tymoshenko should be released, says Ambassador Tefft
The United States is still expecting the release of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko from prison.
"Our position remains unchanged: we believe that Tymoshenko should be released," U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine John Tefft said in Kyiv on Monday.
He said that this issue was discussed at the latest meeting of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry.
According to him, Washington was very pleased to learn about the pardoning of former Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko, because this was the position of the U.S. government and the European Union. Tefft said that they hoped that Tymoshenko would be released too.
