Location of Ukrainian hostages seized from ship near E. Guinea unknown, says Foreign Ministry
The location of two Ukrainian sailors kidnapped by pirates near Equatorial Guinea is still unknown, the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Ukraine reported.
"According to the Ukrainian Embassy in Nigeria, on April 22 pirates attacked the Hansa Marburg container carrying ship which was flying the flag of Liberia in the neutral waters of the Gulf of Guinea, 210 km from the port of Malabo, Equatorial Guinea," Acting Director of the Foreign Ministry's Information Policy Department Yevhen Perebyinis reported.
According to him, the pirates took captive four crewmembers - a citizen of Russia, two Ukrainians, and one citizen of Kiribati.
"At the moment, the location of hostages is unknown. The embassy is clarifying the information regarding the hostages and establishing contacts with the company, which owns the ship," the Foreign Ministry's representative said.
The Ukrainian Embassy in Nigeria and the Consular Department of the Foreign Affairs Ministry are watching closely this case.
