Six deaths confirmed in Belgorod shooting incident

Officials in Belgorod have confirmed that six people were killed by a gunman in the center of Belgorod on Monday.

"An unidentified gunman opened fire at a crowd on Narodny Boulevard not far from a shopping center on April 22. Updated reports indicate that five people were killed on the spot, including a schoolgirl, and a young woman died in the hospital," the city authorities said in a press release.

The Belgorod Region Governor Yevgeny Savchenko and Belgorod Mayor Sergei Bozhenov rushed to the scene.

The authorities pledged to make compensation payments to the relatives of the victims.
