Kyiv-Amman aircraft makes emergency landing in Simferopol, nobody injured
An MD-83 aircraft of the Mediterranean Airlines flying on the Kyiv-Amman route has made an emergency landing in Simferopol International Airport due to the malfunction of the engine, Spokesperson of the Crimean Republican Committee on Transport and Communications Zera Emirsuin has told Interfax-Ukraine.
The Simferopol airport ground services at 1022 on Saturday received an alarm from the aircraft, whose engine failed in the air, as well as other serious technical problems occurred.
Rescue machines and ambulances were driven to the airport runway.
The plane at 1042 made a successful landing. Nobody has been injured.
All 70 passengers on board the aircraft were evacuated.
"They are now waiting for the decision of the airline, which either will send an additional airplane, or will join other airlines to transport passengers on the route," she said.
