Ukraine PM ready to cooperate with opposition, rejects criticism
The Ukrainian government is prepared for intensive cooperation with the parliament for the sake of stable development, said Ukraine's Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.
"We are ready for constructive cooperation with the parliamentary majority, with the opposition and with the public," he told the Verkhovna Rada on Friday.
Azarov rejected the criticism of the Cabinet, saying that the opposition raised the no-confidence vote issue in order to upset stability and "to score political points."
"Opposition representatives ran the country before and Ukraine must thank them for fettering prices for Russian gas, and the obligation to raise household gas tariffs and to accept the pension reform, given to the International Monetary Fund," Azarov said.
No one should mistake the parliament for barricades, or the state policy for rallies. Everyone must work hard for the lofty goal of turning Ukraine into a modern state with high living standards. We are prepared for maximum compromises," Azarov told the lawmakers.
