The Verkhovna Rada has dismissed Chairman of the Supreme Court of Ukraine Petro Pylypchuk.
A total of 227 MPs out of the 357 registered in the session hall voted for a resolution to dismiss Pylypchuk as a judge on Thursday.
Pylypchuk was dismissed in connection with his statement of resignation.
As reported, on September 19, 2012, Supreme Court Chairman Pylypchuk tendered his resignation due to reaching retirement age (he turned 65 in October 2012, which in line with the law is the age limit for the position of Supreme Court chairman). He was elected chairman of the Supreme Court of Ukraine on December 23, 2011.
On September 25, the Higher Council of Justice accepted Pylypchuk's resignation.
