Dam breaks at Bortnychi aeration plant, leakage stopped
A dam broke in the silt field No.3 of the Bortnychi aeration plant, which is out of use, around 1900 on Wednesday, the press service of the State Emergency Situations Service reported.
"The breach came as a result of melting snow and rise in groundwater," the service said in a statement.
There is no threat of flooding of local towns and villages. The leakage was stopped at 0545 on Thursday when the breach was patched.
The silt field No. 3 at the Bortnychi aeration plant has an area of 106 hectares. A total of 590 people and 36 units of special equipment were involved in the liquidation of the emergency.
