Popov to run for Kyiv mayor, says reports of his dismissal are rumors
Head of Kyiv State Administration Oleksandr Popov has said that reports in the media about his possible dismissal are rumors.
"I've heard about it for the first time. I think these are rumors. This question has not been discussed anywhere. I'm continuing to work as head of Kyiv State Administration and I'll participate in the election," he told Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday.
Popov also said that he had heard for the first time that the Presidential Administration is considering appointing former Kyiv City Council deputy Ihor Lysov or Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Vilkul to his post. He said that such rumors about him and his deputies circulate on the Internet quite often.
Sources in the Party of Regions also confirmed to Interfax-Ukraine that the issue of Popov's dismissal was not currently being considered.
